While this page is being built let me tell you about myself.

My name is Daniel G. Stec and I am running for Assembly in the 114th District of the New York State Assembly.

The 114th District is a new district brought about by the 2010 census. The 114th District will encompass all of Essex and Warren counties, the towns of Corinth, Day, Hadley and Edinburgh of Saratoga County as well as the towns of Dresden, Fort Ann, Granville, Hampton, Hebron, Putnam and Whitehall of Washington County.

I was born and raised in Queensbury, NY. My father is a retired NYS Forest Ranger and my mother is a retired secretary from Queensbury High School. I have been married to my college sweetheart, Hilary for 21 years and we have been blessed with our son, Peter, who is in first grade. My dad served in the United States Marine Corps in Vietnam and I as a Naval Officer, serving as a nuclear engineer onboard USS Truxtun (CGN-35), saw duty in the Persian Gulf during Operation Desert Storm.

I worked my way through Clarkson University, including one summer in Essex County at the IP mill in Ticonderoga. After graduation, I entered the Navy’s nuclear power program. I served for eight years. While I was still in the Navy, my wife and I bought a dairy farm on South Bay in Fort Ann.  We tried to grow Christmas trees there; however, when our son was born we chose to sell the farm so Hilary could stay at home with him for his first few years.  During that time we also leased the farm out to a local dairy farmer so the farm would remain productive. Since my days in the Navy I worked for five years as an engineer in manufacturing. During this time I got my start in local government – first on the zoning board and then for two terms as a town councilman. For the past nine years, I have been honored to serve as the Queensbury Town Supervisor and for the last two as Chairman of the Warren County Board of Supervisors.

I look forward to helping with the challenges we all face, taxes, job growth and medical care. I firmly believe that I can carry our North Country message to Albany. As I embark on a new endeavor as your candidate in this new 114th Assembly District, I do hope to meet as many of you as possible.

I know together we can bring the message of fiscal conservatism, unfunded mandates, property taxes, economic development, broadband and the delivery of health care services to the voters of the 114th Assembly District.

Thank you for your support!
